Today I found myself sitting close to a beautiful girl who was trying to read an anthology of Schopenhauer’s works about religion. Everyone around her was noisy apart from me. I didn’t know her representation of the world but her will was absolutely great :).

My bounded and weak view of business makes me trash by default so many ways to get paid: for example yesterday I discovered what Media literacy is (which is still freaky for me) and, most of all, that it is possible to pay your bills with it.
One big difference between a monkey and a human is in their intelligence so every time it’s definitely sad to realize that the average project manager is driven to believe that giving a good manual to a monkey (written by a human of course) could help the hairy animal to fill its gap.
Sometimes an easy to fix bug viewed by thousands of eyes survives for ages. Today I sent this trivial patch to Joomla forge which fixes a bug in modules/mod_archive.php.
Now this webserver uses PHP5. My apologies for the short downtime.
He is the man_of_the_day because he was kind enough to stop using my picture as an avatar.
Everybody knows that Internet is quite a strange place. Today I have read the Apache log of my professional website and I have found some very astonishing information:
- I have absolutely no idea about why thousands of HTTP Referers are from a Dutch estate company (I guess it is, because I don’t understand Dutch);
- a French guy that moderates (moderates?) an AFAIK live action gun role-playing game web forum uses my picture as an avatar (oh, dear!) and once more I have absolutely no idea why he does that;
- I’m the third Carlo you can find on Google Image and I guess this fact is related to the previous one.
You can’t leave the mind of an engineer alone more than five minutes without getting back and finding some kind of (strange or silly, you have a choice as usual) questions.
Today I left it alone for that time and when I got back I found it was wondering what a machine is.
Well, Wikipedia says a machine is a “device that transmits or modifies energy” and it lists the inclined plane as a kind of “Simple machine”. In my opinion a stone pushed in order to slide down a hill is not a machine (it’s not even a device); everything can be used to transmit or modify energy but we don’t think about it as a machine.
I need a better answer.
If for some reason (sad or stupid reasons, you have a choice as usual) you need to restore a MySQL dump of a Joomla DB and you have experienced the same problem described here, well, you could find it useful to run this pre import script I wrote.
Update (2006-12-07): this might be needed if you use JXplorer and if you dump with eBackup (not with phpMyAdmin).
This is both a note for me and a public acknowledgment to pizdin_dim for his solution to the validation problem described here.
