I think that the content of a blog should be original, so I don’t like to write a post just to let the readers know something that they could read elsewhere but I can’t refrain from quoting a sentence I found on the CV of Keith Briggs, a mathematician who, among other things, contributed like me to the GNU Scientific Library:
I once held a chair in the Physics Department at the University of Oxford, while the professor stood on it to get a book down from a high shelf.
This is the kind of humour I like.
Some years ago I used to enhance my CV with “interesting” notes like
Grand Chamberlain of the Holy Roman Empire
with which I had a couple of job interviews but nobody noticed.
