Nick Drake - Time Piece (lyrics)

After listening to it many times and with the invaluable help of my friends Vivien and David, I’ve transcribed here the lyric of Time Piece, a song I previously wrote about: I think it is accurate enough to be published. Moreover, I noticed that the “intro” of the tape of “Joey”, on a well known bootleg, is just the beginning of “Time Piece”!

Comments and corrections are very welcome.

Time Piece - Nick Drake (Family Tree and, previously, partially on two well known bootlegs)

Still it’s time that grows in my brain.

Still it’s time that calls me here.

Still I scream the time it takes.

Still I cringe from time’s strokes.

Still I groan from time’s loves.

But still I’ll try for time perhaps.

Hey. I think there are some mistakes in the transcription. I´m not an expert. not even from an english speaking country, but I don´t think he says here. I´m almost sure the third line is ” still I scream when time tics” and on the forth I´d say “tricks” instead of “strokes”. still the transcription was helpfull. thanks

frank: a mistake is always possible of course and the sentences you suggest were discussed by us too… but what I wrote is the final result of our work (and the opinions of my English friends David and Vivien count! :D).

Still it’s time that grows in my brain

Still it’s time that calls me again

Still I scream when time ticks

Still I cringe when time stricts [I believe he's using a slang for "restricts", as in tightening grip

Still I groan from time’s loves. [I can't tell what he's saying here, sounds like "lucks" or "lugs"]

But still I’ll try for time perhaps.
