I’ve finally found the time to write down a few notes on this book (and the CD that is shipped with it). Luca Ferrari wrote this book many years ago: there is no doubt that he is a very good fellow but nowadays I’d suggest buying his book only if you already have a deep knowledge of the subject and you want to put one more book on the shelf. More recent studies have provided different versions of many details (for example: the book by Mr. Dann I’ve already described tells something different about the guitar we can see on the cover of “Bryter Layter”; I’m sorry Luca but I trust Dann’s version).
There are two more things I didn’t like:
- the mix of English and Italian is, typographically speaking, very annoying. Do you want to provide translations for the readers? That’s fine but please (please!) clearly separate English from Italian. Although I’m Italian, I find this mix really disturbing, in particular when, while reading it, I accidentally found lyrics translated;
- the CD itself… I’m sorry but I wasn’t able to listen to “Mr. Reginald” for more than a few seconds of the first track. :)
