The conspiracy connoisseur

As I wrote here I can’t provide any real life examples of logical fallacies but I found the following dialogue very enlightening.

A: «Al-Qaeda was not responsible for the September 11 attacks, responsibility really lay with (…).»
B: «Interesting: could you please show me the proof?»
A: «If I had been able to show you the proof, I would have been killed.»

I don’t know what kind of logical fallacy the previous sentence of A is (I’m not even sure that it could be classified as such) but it is definitely an example of one of the worst and unfortunately very common way of stupid thinking.

logical fallacies in real life

I would like to be able to provide some real life examples of logical fallacies but, as I wrote here, I’m not an expert on this subject: it’s not hard to recognize a simple LF, it’s hard to classify it.

I would suggest reading the website of Gary N. Curtis.

A test about logical fallacies

I admit I didn’t do my homework :) so I tried this test to check the knowledge and the ability to recognize logical fallacies: I got a modest 60% score. What about you?
